I am honored to have the support and endorsement of my friend Marcus Nelson. I am grateful for his service these past three years.

Dear Friends,

I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks for the support you all have given me these past three years. You, the dedicated and hardworking folks of Needham, are the reason I wanted to serve. Your encouragement has meant the world to me, and the success we’ve shared throughout my term as a Select Board member could not have been achieved without your passion and your support. As you may know, I’ve decided not to run for a second term. There are many factors that went into this decision, but please know that my love for this town and its future remains as strong as ever.

I know firsthand how important it is for people to see themselves represented in their leaders. During my campaign, I made a commitment to be a voice for those who had been underrepresented in our community. The overwhelming support I received was truly humbling. Now, I kindly request that you extend that same level of enthusiasm and generosity to my friend Tina Burgos, who is running for Select Board.

Tina has demonstrated exceptional leadership in diversity and equity initiatives, particularly as Chair of the Human Rights Committee and the REAL coalition within Needham schools. She is an attentive listener who wholeheartedly values the perspective of all residents. As a small business owner and former member of the Council of Economic Advisors, Tina brings valuable financial insight to the table, advocating for responsible spending while ensuring continued progress and development in Needham.

As a woman of color, Tina also recognizes the importance of representation and the richness that diverse perspectives bring to our conversations. While it’s bittersweet for me to step down from the Select Board, knowing that Tina is running puts my mind at ease.

I hope you will join me in voting for her on April 9th! Please also consider donating to her campaign and hosting a lawn sign to spread the word.

Thank you all again for your continued friendship and support,

Marcus Nelson

Tina is so pleased to have the endorsement of Progressive Needham!
